LONG Trip

Well I finally arrived back in Sydney. I was supposed to be here by 6pm last night but encountered a few issues along the way and ended up arriving after 1am this morning.

It all started out on time and on plan. I travelled the way my TomTom wanted me to which kind of goes backwards before it goes forwards but it is the quickest way normally. That is until you listen to the radio and discover your route is probably going to be blocked for hours after a major car accident.

At which stage you have to turn around and drive straight past your house to get back to the new route you now need to take. BUM!

I got to Craigieburn when I had problems with the Intercooler (car speak sorry) and had to wait for 2.5 hours for people to help me fix that at which point a problem with the alarm was discovered and again I had to backtrack to Fawkner to get that fixed. Another hour or so wasted there.

I finally got on the road and headed out of town. Where I discovered each km was ticking over pretty quickly until I needed a bathroom badly and the next toilet stop was about 20km away. All of a sudden it took forever! The perceived time it takes to travel any distance is determined by the capacity of ones bladder.

With the sheer amount of time I spend on the road I really should invest in a TravelJohn (available at Rays btw)

Are the pictures too much informtation? LOL

In truly committed style I packed all of my meals into a cooler with drinks. And even ensured I downed 2 litres of water along the way. (Much to my dismay around Benalla when trees by the side of the road looked like a fantastic spot to ummm.... stop and survey the scenery a little closer lol)

With all my setbacks I ran out of food long before I should have. I was stressed and when I got to Yass CAVED and bought McDonalds. I'm still pissed at myself for it. But there was very nearly a cheesecake incident that I did manage to avoid. (After the quarter pounder I woke up and thought "wtf are you doing?")

At Yass I also noticed my back tyre was down a bit and filled it back up again. Got to Marulan to fill up with petrol (And still haven't touched chocolate or any offerings from service stations at this stage) and checked the tyres again which were all perfect.

In Campbelltown I called Jase to jokingly give him a 1 hour warning. I am on my approach! Less than 3 minutes later my back tyre shredded doing 115km an hour in the fast lane overtaking a whole pile of people. It took me awhile to pull over and the shoulder was narrow, it was very dark and of course my car was SO full! I called the NRMA and set about unpacking the car.

I got to the tyre and it was bolted in so tight it was stuck! I originally only wanted the NRMA for their safety lights and lighting to work by but I tell you my RACV total care membership is invaluable because there was no way I was going to be able to even remove the spare on my own.

I called Jase to give him a revised plan and he set off in my direction as the NRMA told me they were going to be awhile. They ended up arriving pretty quickly (NRMA) and I met Jason and Nick half way and headed for home, I went from arriving here at 6pm to arriving after 1am!

I am so tired today!!!!! LOL

I got an sms this afternoon that put me in good spirits though.

It is with pleasure that I can let you know Em's baby arrived into the world this afternoon! Much awaited and I'm sure she's glad to be over this pregnancy. His name is William and he is 6lb 14oz! Born at 1:20pm.

I think William is the first boy in the blogger community (that I can think of from the top of my head anyway) So he's going to have plenty of girlfriends to chose from when he gets older.

On that positive note I am going to love you and leave you. Snuggle on the couch with my boy (who has just got out of hospital) and watch tv or some movies or anything.

Have a great weekend!
