1000 Steps Wrap Up

Well there only ended up being 4 of us (including my Mum) but a great time all the same. Michelle, Shontie, Mum and I all met up at about 9am this morning, while alot of you were enjoying your coffee's, a lie in or maybe even out at other commitments (like so many unfortunately already had)

Michelle did really well for someone coming back from a hip injury. 3 cheers hun! But unfortunately hurt her hip again on the way down doing the final run to the finish. (downhill runs are not so good for your joints) She definitelty kicked my butt making it to the top in 24m something (from memory)

I have totally forgotten Shontie's time but she can post it up here for you - Shontie went all the way to the BBQ area (a hard slog past the top of the stairs I assure you) In somewhere near 34m. A SUPER first effort. In fact a super effort full stop.

Poor Mum wasn't feeling so good on the way up. So she took quite a few rests this time round. Fair enough too - We didn't think she was going to make it to the top at one stage but when Shontie and I came back from the BBQ area there she was taking a rest on one of the plaques at the top (damn good rest areas those plaques)

Myself - I made it from archway to bbq area in 44m 14s - almost 7 minutes off my last time but still not my very best. Damn I thought I was doing SO well this time too - no rests until Templetons Crossing - although the girls left me for dead LONG before the steps haha

It was very slippery today and quite a few of the regulars were saying it was very hard to do today for some reason. (Up isn't bad far as slippery goes but down means you best hold on)

We took a few photos. And all were keen to do it again soon. We skipped brunch this time and headed home weary but happy walkers. I'm sure the girls will blog their own experience.

So for next time is Saturday or Sunday better for you?
