I'm still here...

"The Beetle"

I'm holding onto the planet by my fingertips! Just.

It has been an absolute whirlwind while I have been here - with a massive rally field and an extra photographer my entire week was spent sitting in front of the PC sorting photos, renaming, resizing, watermarking, uploading, getting images out to media, getting requests trhgouh for sponsers, directors - everything!

I left the computer for the first time on Sunday to go out for brunch with some girlfriends. Megan, Loz & Simmo at the Regal for Yum Cha. Gotta say nothing like the off the menu yumcha I had before. 300x better and 300x cheaper! I am so amazed at the price! It's all I could talk about on Sunday was how cheap and how good it was. It may become a free day tradition for me at this rate (hey why not I was full up to dinner time!)

I missed out on the Pink Beetle I thought I was getting, instead when I arrived a beautiful red convertible was waiting for me. It had a full black leather interior with heated seats which were amazing! I've never had heated seats before and after standing a few days had a bit of backpain and I gotta say it was like sitting on a body length hot water bottle. JUST the perfect thing. TICK THE BOX if you are ever buying a car with them. The heated seats and fabbo heating also meant that on my drive down to Canberra until the storm hit I was quite toasty and happy with the roof down. Was quite funny when it first started raining as I went into a panic and then realised no water was actually coming inside the car. The airodynamics meant it drifted over the top of me. When we saw that it was going to get nasty though we put the roof up with about 5 seconds to spare.

I found the convertible was a little gutless in the power stakes - the 2 litre engine was adequate but not enough for a petrol head hoon like myself (LoL) However with the top down and all the lovely little extras I fell in absolute love with this car. All weekend people commented on how much it suited me and I really didn't want to give it back.

We also picked up one of Volkswagens New Turbo Diesel Beetles and it was a right little MACHINE! If you want some extra power definitely head for this. Lots of guts and heaps of torque. A zippy llittle beast! Also the turbo diesel went almost 1000kms (973kms) and we only used 3/4 of a tank of diesel which costed around $35 I think to fill back up. Super economical. If they have the turbo diesel in the convertibubble (which I haven't checked out) It would be the perfect match for me! Otherwise still a fabulous and absolutely enourmously economical little car! I would buy one just for the fuel savings alone. Then add the cuteness factor on top.

Only real thing I thought the beetle would and should come with but didn't have was parking sensors - front and rear wouldn't hurt cause you can't see anything of bonnet or boot thanks to their bubble shape. But I got used to it (kind of) by the time I had to give it back.

Ok now onto diet (since this is supposed to be my diet blog) I did ok even while we were away. But since I have been back at my oh's I have gone somewhat mental and lived on Mint Slices, a new favourite Junior Mints (import from the USA available at the local Big W), and other chocolate. I bought a george forman grill with all intentions of being well behaved but with my MIL everything soon turned to shit and I just gave up. (terribly) I am back home on Thursday and the first thing I am going to do when I wake up in the morning is go to the gym! Oh my how that changes everything. If I get up and do my workout first thing I stay on track all day - if I skip it I tend to wander off eating whatever I please. Obviously the two are linked in my head and I now know what I have to do!

I have put on weight since I have been here - the digital scales outside the chemist said I was 89kg. (no shoes but winter clothes) BUT the damn thing also said I was 166cms which isn't right either. I discussed it with a gf we reckon 85 would be about right given what I was wearing and how much I had eaten and drunk that day (after yum cha)

Anyway - I am sorry I didn't get to catch up with more bloggers, I will have to actually plan for something next time before I leave my house. (Anyone like yumcha) I will be back up here in about 7 weeks but again for another rally and I don't know what time I have yet (I haven't booked my tickets) And I know I will have a bit of time in QLD for the actual rally. But nothing is organised yet.

Take Care! I am flying home tomorrow night so I will probably post from there sometime this week and be back into the swing of it.

Go Hard!
