3 great days at the Gym
So I started my 2nd Body-For-Life challenge on Monday and I am feeling amazing. I mean I am still struggling with a cold but there are other things happening that are really working for me mentally.
As I may have said, I am now doing this on my own without a trainer. My trainer is FABULOUS and I would recommend him to anyone but I just can't afford him this time round. The whole families budget is screwed since Dad's accident and truth be told I don't even have the money for my gym membership BUT it is too important.
Anyway - trainer for the first challenge an excpetional choice (or I'd have no clue with my weights training program) But I am happy to say I am coping well without him so far.
I felt so intimidated on Monday night walking into the freeweights area of the gym (I call it the "testosterone zone") But after my first set I was fine. I now feel really empowered being the only chick to cross the line from the carpeted machine weights to the vinyl covered free weights area LOL
Anyway - Monday equalled an upperbody workout that has left me pretty darn sore! My back is still super stiff today and I am hoping I can jump back in the saddle on Friday.
Tuesday = Cardio
I decided to start off my 1st 4 weeks on the treadmill and was pretty impressed when I got a Personal Best! I ran for 4 minutes straight! That leaves me only 6 more minutes to go until I make the 10 minute mark and one of my 12 week goals - tooo eassyyyy (ok maybe not but I'll still do it) I did find that at the 15th minute I was choking on the flegm at the back of my throat. By the 20th minute I was coughing and Im sure those around me thought I was about to die (I did too) BUT I completed it did my stretches and within a few minutes (when I could breathe properly again) I felt like a million dollars! (which I'm told looks like crap so that suits, looked like crap, felt great!)
Wednesday = Lower Body Workout
I called the gym this afternoon to try and get a BF% and was talking to a new PT who happened to USED to go to my brother gym and knew him. I had run into him on the train during the 1st week of my last challenge and we discussed BFL etc. ANYWAY - he said he couldnt fit me in this arvo cause he was going home for a nap then coming back at 4 when he had a client booked in BUT when I got to the gym he was doing a workout. ANyway he decided he was going to join me on my LBWO and could hardly keep up! And he only did Quads, while I was doing Quads and Hams in the same time period. That felt good - then it wasn't until halfway through that he realised who I was! Wasn't til I mentioned Josh that he put 2 & 2 together - he was just being nice and friendly LoL. He freaked out and was like I didn't even realise that was you! You have lost so much weight etc. SO that felt awesome! PLUS since he wanted to try and train with me and he didn't know who I was that was a bonus because I must throw a different vibe around me now.
THEN into my highpoint for quads (DB Squats) And almost at dying point this cute guy winks at me! WooHoo! I was red faced, messy haired and everything and I still get a wink.
I did PB's for quite a few of my weights and then I want to scream and die at the same time and I'm wondering how I'm going to get to the car when I realise I am yet to stretch. So I hobbled away from the machines and started stretching. I TOUCHED MY TOES!!!!! I normally stretch my hamstrings and can only reach half way down my shins so this was damn exciting (when I realised what I was doing)
I was still grunting and moaning when I got in the car so I am pretty sure I hit my 10's! Have downed some L-Glutamine and a protein shake so hopeing I can move tomorrow because I need to get back on the treadmill without falling off. Now I haven't managed to take my blender anywhere for repair yet (I don't even have a clue where to go with it to be honest) so I am stuck with a drink bottle that is making a good shaker at the moment. I am damn lucky! EAS make Protein powder and Myoplex (which is a meal replacement shake, sorry I didn't explain previously) VERY WELL and they don't need a blender! They mix through perfectky and stay smooth with a shake. AWESOME I say. Anyway - Dad is doing well we both enjoyed a shepherds pie again tonight and I am really impressed with it. It's a great winter warmer and fits into my nutrition program. And you can see with this post my attitude is really UP today. Take Care all!
