Merry Christmas!

Blogger wont play! It's refusing pictures right now so you are going to have to wait for the full update of presents etc until later.
This is my second post - I wrote one yesterday and then deleted it cause it relied on pictures I couldn't post.
Well Christmas 2006 has come and gone. It was a great day even though we spent it wrapped in jumpers freezing cold LOL. Certainly no typical Christmas in Australia and I am SO glad our family is one for the traditional Hot Roast dinner. It was the coldest Christmas in Melbourne ever with a top of 14°C
This Christmas was very different for us. Only a few times in my life have we had Christmas at home. And I gotta say it's a bit weird. We normally spend Christmas with our relatives in the country somewhere. Most of them live along the Murry River.
Now my Nan has passed and the cousins are mostly all married with kids the cousins decided to spend this Christmas with their in-laws and so the big family thing never happened. I hope if in future that doesn't happen that we can organise Thanksgiving or something (as Christmas) just to make sure the family ALL gets together at some stage.
I got some wonderful presents. A package from one of my best friends in Sydney contained a pink turtle called Squirtle. From Mum and Dad I got Jamie Olivers new book "Cook with Jamie". I got a beautiful Bedside Lamp with Pink Frangipani's (We decorated my whole room with Pink Frangipani's on my beside table, bedhead, drawers the lot! So it looks great!) We all got a Christmas Stocking full of Lollies.
I also got my 21st Pressent (I turn 26 on Friday lol) My Nanna gave me some money for my 21st with orders to buy a nice China set I would like. I never found one. I found a beautiful Magnolia serving set at Target that I could only buy a long platter for as the rest sold out (If you see it anywhere please let me know!) But the other day Mum and I stumbled on another serving set that was lovely. So Mum wrapped that up for me and I have my 21st Present now. It can go in my Glory Box until Jason and I have a place of our own.
The dogs (Storm and Knackers) Cleaned up this year! They got a bubble machine, 2 lots of flavoured bubbles each (Peanut Butter, Smokey Bacon, BBQ Chicken) Smoked Bones. Chocolate Bones (doggy safe ones of course) Toys everything.
We got some good video of Storm playing with her new toy. She had it broke in a couple of minutes but she hasn't put it down (except to sleep and that's with the toy) since it was given to her.
My brother has said he is going shopping for Christmas Presents for us in the sales today. So I may have more to tell later. :P
I spent half the day finishing up a gingerbread house I cooked and decorated from scratch. It looks SO good and I will have to show you photos. Unfortunately I left it sitting too long in the air though and it's gone a touch dry which is so annoying. That's ok though I can buy or make normal gingerbread anytime. I liked creating the house. It was all for looks. ha ha At least I had some left over when I cooked it that tasted GREAT so I know it wasn't a bad recipe or anything.
Well I've prattled on enough. I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas! I have no idea what I'm doing for New Year yet and I will organise some birthday celebrations (good excuse for a catchup) sometime in January!
If you have any traveling to do in the coming weeks please drive carefully! Don't drink much the night before and get a good sleep. I want to hear from you all safe and sound. Labels: Christmas, Year End

The Magic of Christmas
I am so looking forward to Christmas for a change.
I'm actually LOVING Christmas at the moment for the first time in a LONG time.
The shops have been fairly quiet and I think that's partly thanks to the fact that a lot of schools have actually been in this week! Crazy! School is in with less than a week till the big day. Makes my life easier so I am not complaining.
I'm looking forward to New Year and a New Start. That clean slate and all.
On one hand I see 2006 as being so unlucky and cursed and on the other so very lucky and blessed. We could so easily have lost my Dad this year and he is still with us and he's doing really well.
I think you could call me an optimistic pessimist or maybe I'm a pessimistic optimist.
Either way I still hold belief in the Magic of Christmas.
"An optimist stays up until midnight to see the new year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves." ~Bill Vaughan |
